Commission Meeting Highlights - August 7, 2018

TONOPAH, Nev., August 7, 2018 - The following report highlights several important actions taken at the Nye County Board of Commissioners meeting. The agenda numbers provide links to each item’s backup.

A presentation was given by Tails of Nye County seeking to apply for Community Development Block Grant to provide “Low-Cost Spay & Neuter Clinic of Nye County” and “Pet Awareness Program.” No action was taken. (8)

Commissioners approved $50,000 in funding to the Friends of the Belmont Courthouse for stabilization and rehabilitation of Belmont Courthouse. The item was brought forward by Commissioner Lorinda Wichman. (21) Video of the courthouse

The Board determined a nuisance exists at 2650 S. River Plate Drive in Pahrump and directed staff to remove the nuisance conditions. (9)

The County Licensing and Liquor Board renewed the brothel licenses for owners of the Chicken Ranch and Alien Cathouse. Issued a temporary license (30 days) for owners of Sheri's Ranch, and denied renewal of the Love Ranch Brothel. (11) 

Mike Cottingham was appointed to the Amargosa Valley Town Board due to a resignation of an unexpired term to end January 2019. (22

The Board approved implementation of procedures to consider requests from various organizations for funding a program/project which support/provide services to residents of county. (
