Nye County is submitting a request to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for the release of Community Development Block Grant funds for a Beatty Airport Fueling Station to stimulate economic development in the town of Beatty through the enhancement and modernization of the Beatty Airport. The proposed project is the installation of a fueling station on the Beatty Airport property, including the installation of an above-ground, 12,000-gallon fuel tank. This enhancement is needed to meet the infrastructure requirements of potential Beatty Airport commercial ventures such as aviation technology businesses, tourism companies, and the film industry. The Beatty Airport is located on Airport Road, and the project area is located on an approximate 0.23-acre portion of the 429.3-acre Nye County Assessor’s Parcel Number 018-021-02.

The proposed project is estimated to have development costs of approximately $444,112.75. Nye County intends to provide $390,000 in CDBG grant funds.

The county has determined the project will have no significant impact on the human environment. Public comments may be submitted by Thursday, November 22, 2018 at 5 p.m. Below for details.
