County monitoring Coronavirus as three new cases reported in neighboring Clark County

Nye County Department of Emergency Management, and County Administration of aware of three new presumptive positive COVID-19 cases in neighboring Clark County on Wednesday, bringing the total there to five. There are also two in Washoe County.

There have been no cases in Nye County, and Emergency Management and County Administration are working diligently to stay informed of the latest developments. The county has also been in contact with various county departments and elected officials to make sure they have everything they need to keep themselves and the public we serve safe and protected.

Nye County is also communicating with the communities throughout the county to keep the more rural areas informed. Nye County has set up a webpage to help share information when available.

Also, on Wednesday, the World Health Organization declared the global outbreak a "pandemic." A pandemic is defined as a disease that has become widespread around the world with an impact on society.
