Henry Melton has been the Senior Hearing Officer for the Southern Nevada Health District for more than 15 years. He has taught at several universities where he chaired numerous committees, Boards, Councils, and workshops. His actions are governed by the Nevada Revised Statutes and Roberts Rules.
At Southern Nevada Health District, serves as the Senior Independent Hearing Officer for a population of more than 2.2 million people. He adjudicates a variety of Southern Nevada Health District cases and more than 44,000 Restaurants. Melton arbitrate and mediate cases for the Department of Business and Industry’s NRED Division.
At the University of Nevada, Las Vegas Professor for more than 20 years. I was recognized as the “Outstanding Faculty of the Years” in 1987 at UNLV. He served as Vice President of the UNLV Alumni Association, which represents more than 120,000 Alums and raised more than $2 million for the new UNLV Medical School.
County Health Officer is appointed under NRS 439.290 County health officer: Appointment; qualifications; term.
1. On or before January 1 next following each general election, the board of county commissioners shall appoint a county health officer for the county.
2. The county health officer must be appointed on the basis of his or her graduate education in public health, training, experience and interest in public health and related programs.
3. The term of office of the county health officer is 2 years or until a successor has been appointed and qualified.
